Engineering Material Physics

This project is in a programme supported at the Brinell Centre by the Strategic Research foundation. Fabrication of multilayers of nitrides, silicides, and studying their surface hardness at a nanoscale, and investigating the interface effects on the mechanical properties are being pursued to compare studies of nanoindentations with the atomic force microscopic investigations of these indents. This approach will be used to study novel structures assembled by scaling the functional properties of materials from nanoscale and above.

Period: 1999-07-01

Keywords:
Atomic force microscopy, Nanoindentation, Nitrides, Pulsed laser deposition, Hardness - mechanical, Multilayers
