Bulk metallic glasses - the flawless material (»Add to Infobox)

Bulk metallic glasses (BMG) are a new class of materials having outstanding properties. They approach theoretical mechanical strength, have excellent anti corrosion properties, can be magnetically soft and behave super plastically, meaning that they may be formed into complex shapes with superior surface quality. In this project novel methods will be developed both experimentally and by theoretical modelling, to avoid the cumbersome one-at-a-time compositional investigation, instead investigating compositional ranges in parallel. Given this scenario, BMG may find important applications relevant for Swedish industrial interests.
