Precipitation hardening is one of the most potent strengthening mechanisms. To understand and be able to model this phenomenon at a fundamental, quantitative level would open up many opportunities in terms of alloy design, optimisation of heat treatment and life-time assessment of precipitation strengthened materials. An essential purpose of this project is to develop a model that can be used to quantitatively model the kinetics of precipitation.
