The project is directed to production of chiral amines as building blocks for the pharmaceutical industry. It is a collaboration between KTH Bioprocess Technology and KTH Biochemistry and Swedish industry. The Div. of Bioprocess Technology research part relates to surface expression of enzymes in E.coli hereby providing both production and immobilisation in a single-step procedure. The Div. of Biochemistry research part involves biocatalysis, enzymological studies and enzyme optimization and re-design through protein engineering and directed evolution.
